On my birthday there were two matsuri in Kyoto. A matsuri is a festival. The first one we went to is famous and very popular; Jidai Matsuri (Festival of Ages). Basically it's a costume parade. People dress up in period pieces and parade down the street. Sounded great in the guidebook. However the guidebook failed to explain that the parade lasted a couple of hours when it should only last about 45 minutes. The length of the parade is because they would send one single person down the street and the next lone person would come along about 50 yards behind that one. That made the parade crazy long. Also it was getting cold outside and I was having a hard time focusing. Here are the best shots that I got.
