Sunrise for the Masses

Angkor Adventure Story: We rose at 4:30 am so that we could meet our tuk tuk driver at 5:00 am. We rode in the chilly morning air towards the amazing ruins of Angkor Wat. We crept along the path and located a perfect spot to capture the sun's first rays on such a historical site. Slowly the sun rose and Rich captured this beautiful picture......
along with thousands of other tourists. We couldn't resist taking this photo. It was just too funny. Many people currently do travel to Angkor Wat. We noticed that most of the westerners were actually European. We didn't encounter any other Americans, however we couldn't escape the Japanese. Even with the amount of tourists visiting, our visit to the ruins didn't seem to be too crowded. I think that in another 5-10 years Angkor Wat will be over run with tourists; due to marketing (just think of it as Disneyland except with an Indiana Jones twist). I really hope that it is able to maintain it's appeal yet not be over exploited. I suggest that if you intend to go to Siem Reap, do it soon before it inevitably changes.
