This past Monday we hosted a potluck party. We had one in January and it was such a great success, that we have decided to have a potluck party every month until we leave Japan. For those unfamiliar with potluck (believe me some people don't/didn't know what potluck means..... Brian), every person brings something to contribute to the meal. Usually you bring a homemade dish, however if you don't cook just bring something;

wine, purchased food, booze, dessert... you get the picture. Anyway this month we hosted a dozen people in our dozen tatami mat apartment (1 mat per person, ha ha). In fact the photo on the left was taken in our bedroom. Literally we sleep where that table is; futon stows away in the closet. We had a nice mix of people; JETS, past JETS, NOVA workers, Peppy Kids worker, and Japanese. I

really enjoy the fact that we have a unique group of people at our place. It seems that we transcend the usual cliques and bring together a good mix. One really special guest was former JET, Corri. She's fresh of her journey on the
Peace Boat and I was so happy to get to visit with her before she heads back to Canada (in fact today she leaves). Corri is one of the first people that I met in Japan. She's so sweet and just an amazing person. She actually inspired me to climb Mt. Yarigatake with Hannah last August. It was good to catch up on old times and talk about recent adventures. Besides good company, the spread was delicious; enchilada casserole, ceviche, 2 soups, cornbread, tandoori chicken, veggies, fideo (noodles), meatballs, mashed potatoes, fish, lots of wine, and so much more that I can't remember. Oh, this post is making me hungry!
hey- looks like twas a fun potluck party!! Big hello to everyone! goodtimes! hx
