Give me a pump!

Remember in your younger years when you were playing with your friends and you wanted to go somewhere relatively far, but sadly you were a bicycle short. Remember the phrase, "I'll pump you" or "Give me a pump"???? Boy that phrase seems so dirty now. Anyway Rich and I were recently in that (one bicycle short) situation. Our mode of transportation is bicycle, train, taxi, and/or bus. Kind of sucks to not own a car. Anyway our favorite Indian restaurant, Punjab opened up a shop here in Iwade, about a 20 minute bike ride from our place. Tawnee had spent the night and three of us were in desperate need of some spicy food. Instead of forking out money for a taxi both ways we opted to let Tawnee ride my bike and Rich would give me a pump. The pumping began with me sitting on the seat of Rich's bike (preferred method here in Japan), while he stood and peddled. Not really that bad of a ride, except my legs cramped up from holding them straight out (no pegs). We had to take a few breaks along the way, but made it within 25 minutes. The return trip we went old school, I rode on the handlebars. Now being foreign in a country town means that we get stared at a lot. Now throw in the abnormal bike riding method and people in cars slowed down to take a look at us. Odd as it looked it was surprisingly a lot more comfortable and speedy. Thanks Tawnee for documenting this silly moment.
