Update

So we are not living in a trailer. Our "old" landlords were gracious enough to continue being our landlords and offer us their office as a temporary home. They have been using one of their tiny efficiency apartments as an office for their many real estate ventures. We basically needed a place to sleep, shower, and change clothes. This works and in a way, reminds me a bit of Japan. In all honesty, it is the about the same size as our place in Japan. Our chisai loft is located at the back of one of their renovated apartment buildings, above the laundry room. We have met a lot of the tenants in the main building and are a bit bummed that we didn't live here all along. Everybody is really friendly and many of them have dogs that are happy to play with Numa. Kind of like Melrose Place, without all of the drama. Anyway, we have a place to stay and are surviving relatively well.

Beckley's progress is also crawling along. We are dealing with electrical stuff right now. We have to get it done before we can move forward on anything else. The problem has been the electricians. What's up with the shady electricians? Some days they show up and some days they don't. Then when they do show up, they work soooooooo sloooooooow. Milking us for money I'm sure. It's really frustrating! Hopefully we will have power by early next week.

We do have some completed ceilings though. One of the photos on the right is of our kitchen ceiling. We recycled some of the newer hardwood flooring that was in the bedroom and put it on the ceiling. This was the top most floor in our layers of wacky flooring that we uncovered. We will sand it and refinish it. It will probably remain a light color. The photos on the left are of our living/dining room ceiling. I know it looks like a lot of wood right now, but we are going to change it still. We want the cedar beams to be the attraction, so the wood behind it will be painted a neutral color and not look so woody. Also we want to add some decorative metal hardware to the beams. The other photo on the right is of one of the wallpapers found behind the sheet rock. Nice flowers, huh! I wonder how long it has been in the house. Maybe it's original? It almost had threads like fabric and was really stuck to the wood.
